Welcome to York District High school

Inspiring Courage, Effort and Innovation

Our school is located in a rural community in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia and is situated on the Avon River, 97 kilometres east of Perth. The town of York has evolved into a diverse community, based around numerous enterprises such as light industry, agriculture and tourism. Architecturally, the town provides an historic reminder of its European past, whilst acknowledging and celebrating its cultural history of the Barladong people.

Our Vision: A School of Choice for Learning and Life - We prepare our students to be life-long learners by developing children intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally. We foster the development of active citizenship in the York and wider Australian community.

Our direction and decision-making is based upon our Priorities of:

  • Success for all Students;
  • High Quality Teaching and Leadership; and
  • Positive School Community Culture.

The School Board supports the decision-making within the school, with its members being elected by the school community and staff. In addition, the school has a School Management Committee which is comprised of the Principal, Deputy Principals, teaching and non-teaching staff members, which focusses upon sustained progress. The School is also extremely well supported by an active P&C committee.

We invite you to browse through our website to learn more about York DHS, or encourage you to contact the school if we can be of assistance.
