Cadets
The Emergency Services Cadet Corps (ESCC) developed from the idea that young Western Australians should be given every opportunity to develop as individuals and become valued members of the community.
Members of the ESCC undertake a wide and interesting range of training and activities that foster self-reliance, teamwork, initiative and a commitment to community service.
The ESCC was established in 1996. It embraces the operational and community service ideals of the emergency services – the State Emergency Service, Fire & Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service, Volunteer Marine Rescue Services and Community Safety.
The program offers young people an opportunity to learn life skills that they can take with them into their workplaces and their lives beyond school. The aim is for Cadets to find training fun and exciting, and at times demanding. Accepting the challenge requires a high level of individual commitment, with assistance and guidance from family, friends and the community.
